I couldn't believe my eyes when I logged in to MyBlogLog today. Hey, why are there so many messages waiting for me? Have I become so popular with everyone overnight? And the Community Pages look different, too.
So what's going on over at MyBlogLog while I was away?
Looks like there have been a major "makeover" - for better or for worse, I'm not sure what to say yet. Let me go back there and survey the landscape one more time...
Okay, now I've cleared some cobwebs before me.
Firstly, I'm seeing some neat stuff being added to the Community Pages not to mention the new layout which I think will enhance navigation around the site.
But let's get down to the nitty gritty of the new features...at first glance:
* MyBlogLog Suggestion Board - that's where you go to put in your two cents worth of suggestion. At least, MBL are willing to listen to their members. If you're short of ideas, you can find some sensible proposals there. It's located at the Yahoo site. (update: the site no longer exists).
* The Community Page - This revamped page is what we need all along. The addition of the RSS Feed section showing short takes of recent posts and the Subscribe menu button gets the thumbs-up. That's what I call a user-friendly feature. (Note to MBL: Please check the spelling "Syndicate This" which reads "Syndiate This" on the Subscribe menu button.)
* Community Messaging - At first I was thinking like "Wow! Suddenly everyone likes me and sending me messages" Then that dreaded word "Spam" came to mind after reading some of the messages. Yes, with one single stroke you can send messages to members in your entire community.
It looks like the new messaging feature is still waiting for the final judgement. MBL knowingly expected some brickbats and some bouquets.
According to them, there were plenty of positive comments and plenty of critical ones, too. So in their own words: "Whether you love it or hate it, there's 180,000 people who might feel otherwise."
Fair comment. We'll see how it goes.
